Who I am

Please note that while the research project is based at the University of Warwick, this website is hosted and maintained by Dr Christopher Sirrs independently, and for these purposes he is the designated ‘Data Controller’ as defined by the General Data Protection Regulation.

What personal data is collected and why

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so any follow-up comments can be recognised and approved automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

If you choose to contact me directly using a contact form, you consent for me to collect your personal data, such as name and email address, for the purpose of communication. Your personal data will be retained for a maximum of 10 years, at which point they will be deleted, unless further explicit consent for data retention is obtained (for instance, if you would like to keep in touch). However at any time you can email me directly at privacy@hazardoushospitals.com to request that your personal data are deleted.

Your personal data will not be shared with any third party, such as a direct marketing company or other such organisation. They will be secured using strong passwords, two-factor authentication, and where available, full-device encryption.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on the site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the data held about you. You can also request that I delete any personal data I hold about you (including contact details). This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. To request a data export, or the deletion of personal data, please email privacy@hazardoushospitals.com.

Where I send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Please note that this website is hosted by Namecheap, Inc, with servers based in the USA. Please note, therefore, that processing of personal data may occur in the USA.

Your contact information

If you would like further information about the steps I am taking to safeguard your privacy, or to request that I delete your personal data, please email me at privacy@hazardoushospitals.com.
